"Phobos" Documentation
The first of a diptych, this painting (and the subsequent painting, "Deimos") is an expression of my own personal Thanatos and Eros, which I have converted into Phobos and Deimos, brothers of death, insinuating a lack of Eros. This painting is meant to explore themes of paternity, self-depreciation, masculinity, and rage. The phrase “A man is a missile that requires a father to fire” is totally up to interpretation, though is implicating the heavy responsibility of fatherhood.
